A change leadership tool developed by Martin Thompson in 2003.

SCORe™ is an acronym in which the “S” stands for Sustainability, the “C” stands for Capability, the “O” stands for Ownership of Results, and the “Re” stands for Reinforcement.  Therefore, you would read it as,

“Sustainability equals Capability times Ownership of Results, plus Reinforcement”, or S = (C x O) + Re.

Capability addresses the “I can” aspect of change.

Ownership of Results addresses the “I want to” aspect of change.

Reinforcement addresses the ongoing support for people as they learn new ways of thinking and working, and ultimately change their mindsets about what is possible, and what is beneficial to them.
